Patrick Alan Stone, of Budderside, talks about his own personal addiction and subsequent recovery.

New York, New York (From the Top40 Charts) “Things We Do,” a deeply personal track by Los Angeles-based quintet Budderside, has been accompanied by an evocative animated lyric video, which features the MUSYCA Children’s Choir and explores the trials and tribulations of dealing with addiction. The track is taken from their latest album, Spiritual Violence, which is available now through Motörhead Music/Silver Lining Music.

Patrick Stone, a singer/guitarist, shares the following: “A firsthand account of addiction, the death of a dear friend, and the hypocritical, empty promise of getting high is presented in ‘Things We Do.’ The first half of this song was written during my darkest days of crystal meth and heroin addiction, when I was pouring my heart out to the universe over the death of West Arkeen, who was a song-writer for Guns N’ Roses, and was responsible for songs such as “The Garden,” “It’s So Easy,” and others. The second half of this song was written during my most recent period of recovery from crystal meth and heroin addiction. West was a dear friend and fellow band member who I admired greatly. The MUSYCA children’s choir filed into NRG Studios to record their gospel to this was nothing short of a miracle for me after 13 years of sobriety. Why my cruelest and most vile days could also lead to such a glorious day is beyond comprehension. The fact that I made it out alive, let alone larger than life, is a source of immense gratitude.”

When Bush, Godsmack, and Papa Roach teamed up with legendary producer Jay Baumgardner to record Spiritual Violence, the album was mastered by Grammy Award-winning engineer Howie Weinberg (Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage). Its ten spiritually evocative and meticulously crafted songs are thoughtfully designed to resonate with listeners all over the world, both musically and lyrically, and to do so in a variety of styles.

BUDDERSIDE was signed to Motörhead Music by the late Motörhead front man Lemmy Kilmister, who had previously employed BUDDERSIDE front man Patrick Alan Stone as a roadie. The band released their self-titled debut album in 2016 and immediately hit the road, performing on tours with bands such as Motörhead, Slayer, Anthrax, and L.A. Guns, as well as appearing at international festivals such as Wacken Open Air and Download.
