We ‘signed’ Erling Haaland for Manchester United this summer with spectacular results
Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund has been linked with a lucrative move to the Premier League, with Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United all being mentioned as potential destinations.
The rumors linking Erling Haaland to a move to the Premier League this summer aren’t going away, with the Borussia Dortmund forward being linked with a number of clubs, including Manchester United and Arsenal.
It is understood by MEN Sport that both United manager Ole Gunn Solskjaer and football director John Murtough agree that Haaland is the ideal number nine for the club. It is also believed that the Reds had their sights set on signing the Norwegian striker this summer, but held off until veteran forward Edinson Cavani agreed to a new deal with the club.
Besides Chelsea and Manchester City, Haaland has been linked with a high-profile transfer this summer. However, having already sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, it has been reported that the Bundesliga club would not be enticed to sell unless a massive offer was made to them.
The rumoured price for acquiring Haaland’s services is estimated to be in the region of £150 million, an amount that the 21-year-old described as “a lot of money for a person.”
Since joining Dortmund in December of this year, Haaland has scored 57 goals and provided 15 assists in just 59 games, demonstrating why he is one of the most in-demand players in the world of football.
So, how would Haaland fare if he were to make his way to the red side of Manchester City Stadium? And, more importantly, could he assist United in bringing some silverware back to Old Trafford?

The first season of Haaland’s career in Manchester was extremely successful. When he arrived at Old Trafford, the Norwegian continued his incredible goal-scoring form, and he ended up finishing the season as the Premier League’s leading scorer.
Under his leadership, Haaland made 46 appearances for United in all competitions, scoring 35 goals and providing four assists, including 27 Premier League goals in 33 Premier League starts.
The Egyptian forward’s 27 league goals put him one step ahead of Mohamed Salah (22) and teammate Bruno Fernandes (20) in the race for the Golden Boot. The latter also won the league’s player of the year award for his efforts.

The results of United’s 2021/22 season with Haaland
The following is a representation of the final 2021/22 league table, as it appeared at the conclusion of the simulation at the end of May 2022.
The title race went down to the wire on the final day of the season, but it was Manchester United who emerged victorious in the end, defeating Liverpool by a single point to win the Premier League title.
In addition to scoring 15 or more league goals, Haaland, Fernandes, and Marcus Rashford were key contributors to the title win, with new signing Jadon Sancho proving to be a valuable addition with 12 assists in his first season.
Even with the return of Virgil Van Dijk to Liverpool’s backline, Varane proved to be the more valuable asset as he played an important role in Solskjaer’s side conceding seven fewer goals than their opponents and the fewest in the Premier League as a result.
Despite this, there was still more silverware to be won.
As Manchester United defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the FA Cup final, Haaland scored twice to help the club win the competition for the first time since the 2015/16 season.
He also scored in the Champions League round of 16 against Juventus, but it wasn’t enough as the Italian side defeated United 5-3 on aggregate to advance to the next round.
In FM21, Haaland scored twice as United won the FA Cup final against Aston Villa.
Arsenal defeated Manchester United 2-1 in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, ensuring that the Red Devils would also be eliminated early from the competition.
Overall, Haaland had a significant impact on United’s season, with the striker playing a significant role in the Red Devils winning two major trophies in the same season.
During the 2007/08 season, Manchester United became the first team in history to achieve this feat by winning both the Premier League and the Champions League in the same season.
A big-hitting striker like Haaland could be exactly what United need to win their first league trophy since the Sir Alex Ferguson era, according to the FM21 simulation, if they do manage to win it by a narrow margin.
